In a life-saving medical intervention, two heart attack patients were successfully treated with thrombolytic therapy at the Central Hospital at the Maha Kumbh Mela. The first patient, 62-year-old Barrister Baba, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition late Sunday night from Sector 18. His oxygen level was dangerously low at 41, pulse at 54, and blood pressure at 268/117. Thanks to prompt administration of thrombolytic therapy, which helps thin the blood and restore circulation, his condition improved significantly. He remains under observation at the hospital.

The second patient, 46-year-old Vinay Kumar from Lakhimpur Khiri, was also brought to the hospital in a serious condition from Sector 20. After receiving the same life-saving treatment, Vinay’s health stabilized, and he was referred to the Cantonment Hospital for further care. During angiography, doctors discovered blockages in three arteries and successfully placed stents to treat his condition. Vinay is now stable and recovering well.

These quick and effective treatments highlight the critical role of thrombolytic therapy in saving lives, especially in emergency situations such as those encountered during large public gatherings like the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Dr. Vaishali Singh, ICU In-charge at Central Hospital, stated, “Thrombolytic therapy is a complex procedure, and in some cases, it can make the patient’s condition more critical. However, this is the first time we have used this therapy at the Kumbh Mela to treat such serious patients. Thankfully, the patients are recovering well.”
