The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, has inaugurated its Clinical Trial Unit (CTU), marking a significant milestone in promoting ethical, high-quality, and patient-focused clinical research in the Northeast region.
According to AIIMS Executive Director Dr. Ashok Puranik, the new unit reinforces the institute’s mission to transform scientific discoveries into improved health outcomes. He said the CTU will empower researchers to conduct robust studies that address both regional and national health priorities.
The facility aims to drive investigator-initiated and sponsor-supported clinical trials, expand patient access to advanced therapies, and nurture a strong research workforce. It will also encourage multi-centre collaborations with national research networks and international partners to tackle diseases of public health importance.
Serving as a hub for healthcare innovation in the Northeast, AIIMS Guwahati continues to foster partnerships that bridge research and real-world healthcare impact, the institute said in a statement on Thursday (October 16).
