Aster DM Healthcare is set to invest ₹1,400 crore over the next five years to expand its footprint across India. This investment will support both new developments (greenfield projects) and upgrades to existing facilities (brownfield projects), with ₹350–400 crore already utilized, according to the company.

As part of this growth strategy, Aster plans to add 1,700 new beds to its network by FY27, increasing its total bed capacity in India to 6,800. The expansion focuses on key states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Hyderabad, aiming to extend Aster’s reach and strengthen its presence in the country’s healthcare sector.

Beyond infrastructure growth, Aster is also embracing innovation through digital health and AI-based diagnostics. The launch of its ‘Aster Health’ app enables patients to schedule consultations, view medical records, and order medications digitally. The company is also exploring ventures into health insurance and managed care services to enhance affordability and access.

A significant milestone for Aster was its merger with Quality Care India Limited, integrating well-known healthcare brands like CARE Hospitals, KIMSHEALTH, and Evercare under one umbrella. This move has expanded Aster’s reach to 38 hospitals and over 10,000 beds across 27 cities in India. In FY24, the combined entity reported revenue of ₹7,314 crore and an adjusted EBITDA of ₹1,396 crore.

According to Dr. Azad Moopen, Aster’s Founder and Chairman, the merger allows the company to streamline operations, standardize clinical practices, and boost efficiency across its network. He emphasized that such consolidation strengthens their ability to serve patients effectively and manage resources more strategically.

In Kerala alone, Aster plans to invest ₹850 crore over the next three years. Major projects include a 454-bed tertiary care hospital in Trivandrum, a 264-bed multi-specialty hospital in Kasaragod, and an expansion of Aster Medcity in Kochi by 100 beds by FY25.

While Aster maintains a strong base in South India, the company is actively looking to expand in northern and central parts of the country, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities where access to quality healthcare is limited.

Aster’s expansion isn’t just limited to hospitals. The company is also growing its home healthcare services under the banner of Aster@Home, offering in-home doctor consultations, diagnostics, and physiotherapy. The company is also collaborating with the Indian Institute of Science to develop AI tools, such as a diagnostic solution for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Dr. Moopen highlighted that India’s aging population and increasing preference for home-based care create major growth opportunities. He reiterated Aster’s goal to make high-quality healthcare accessible and affordable across the country—not just in major cities, but also in underserved areas.

Confident in the company’s direction, Dr. Moopen said Aster is well-equipped to meet the rising healthcare demands of India and aims to stand out through technological innovation, strategic expansion, and a strong commitment to patient care.
