Aster DM Healthcare has announced plans to invest ₹850 crore in Kerala over the next three years to expand its infrastructure, enhance medical services, and create employment opportunities. This commitment follows the ₹500 crore the company has already invested in the state over the past three years.

Currently, Aster operates seven hospitals in Kerala with a combined capacity of 2,635 beds, contributing 53% of its total revenue from India.

“Our decision to invest an additional ₹850 crore over the next three years reflects our strong commitment to strengthening Kerala’s healthcare sector. We believe in Kerala’s potential to lead in healthcare innovation and accessibility,” said Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, at the Invest Kerala Global Summit 2025.

Expanding Healthcare Infrastructure and Workforce

With this expansion, Aster aims to increase its total bed capacity in Kerala to 3,453 by the financial year 2027. The investment is expected to generate approximately 4,200 new jobs, further boosting Kerala’s healthcare sector and economy, according to Aster DM Healthcare Director, Anoop Moopen.

The investment aligns with Kerala’s efforts to attract high-value projects through the Invest Kerala Global Summit, held in Kochi. As part of this initiative, Azad Moopen and Anoop Moopen met with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Industries Minister P Rajeev to discuss growth opportunities in the state’s healthcare sector.

Expansion Through Greenfield Projects

Aster DM Healthcare is undertaking two major greenfield projects:

  • Aster Capital Trivandrum, a 454-bed hospital
  • Aster MIMS Kasargod, a 264-bed facility

Additionally, the company’s flagship hospital, Aster Medcity, is set to expand to 962 beds by FY27. In Q3 FY25 alone, 100 beds were added to Aster Medcity, further solidifying Aster’s presence in Kerala’s healthcare landscape.

Speaking at the summit, Azad Moopen emphasized Aster’s long-term vision for the state. “Kerala has always been central to Aster’s growth, and our commitment remains unwavering. Our goal is to bring world-class healthcare closer to the people while also fostering employment and medical excellence. The ‘Invest Kerala Global Summit’ highlights Kerala’s potential as a key investment hub, and we are proud to be part of this transformative journey.”

Anoop Moopen highlighted the company’s role in generating employment opportunities in Kerala. “Aster DM Healthcare has significantly contributed to job creation, employing over 12,700 professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. With this expansion, we expect to create an additional 4,200 jobs, further strengthening Kerala’s healthcare workforce and economy.

He added that being part of the Invest Kerala Global Summit reinforces Aster’s commitment to not just infrastructure development but also talent cultivation, community empowerment, and solidifying Kerala’s position as a hub for medical excellence.
