On April 3rd, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a new twin-tower facility at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), underscoring the state government’s focus on enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
The newly opened structure features two towers with a combined capacity of 1,117 beds. It is outfitted with advanced medical equipment and patient-centric amenities, according to official sources.
“This building symbolizes our dedication to the people of Bihar,” the Chief Minister said during the launch event.
As per a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, the twin towers house state-of-the-art healthcare services, including intensive care units, private wards, air ambulance access, and specialized outpatient departments (OPDs) for key medical fields.
Designed for accessibility and comfort, the facility also includes clean waiting areas, elevators, and ramps to support patients and their families.
Once the full construction of all planned towers is finalized, PMCH will have a total bed capacity exceeding 5,460, making it the largest hospital in the country. The project involves an investment of ₹5,545 crore and is scheduled for completion by March 2027.
