Pointing out procedural lapses and delays in the ongoing NEET PG counselling process, doctors have approached the Union Health Ministry, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), seeking immediate intervention to resolve the matter.

The representation was submitted by Dr. Lakshya Mittal, National Chairperson and President of the Union Doctors Association (UDF), after the MCC announced an indefinite extension of the choice-filling process for Round 1 of NEET PG Counselling 2025.

In a letter addressed to the Union Health Secretary, DGHS Director General, and MCC Director, the association expressed concern over the prolonged delay, which has caused significant uncertainty among thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants across the country.

According to the letter, several candidates were unable to complete their registration or submit the necessary documents for NRI quota conversion within the given deadline due to procedural disruptions and extended timelines. “UDF has received numerous complaints from genuine applicants who, despite multiple attempts, could not finish the process due to factors beyond their control,” the association noted.

The UDF has therefore urged the authorities to reopen the NEET PG Counselling registration portal and NRI quota document submission window for a limited period to allow affected candidates to complete their applications.

“This step would promote transparency, fairness, and optimal utilization of available postgraduate seats while protecting the interests of deserving students. We hope the authorities will consider this request in the spirit of equity and justice for all NEET PG aspirants,” Dr. Mittal stated.

Commenting further, Dr. Lakshya Mittal said, “Many students informed us that they could not finish their registration or upload documents on time. Since the counselling process hasn’t formally begun, they should be given an opportunity to correct these issues. Hence, reopening the portal would be a fair move.”

Meanwhile, through a notice dated November 6, 2025, the MCC informed candidates that the competent authority had decided to extend Round 1 Choice Filling of PG Counselling 2025 until further notice. The extension was attributed to the need to revise the seat matrix following updates from the National Medical Commission (NMC) regarding changes in PG seats and the National Board of Examinations (NBE) concerning the withdrawal of 169 PG DNB seats after the start of the first round.

The MCC, under DGHS, is currently revising the seat matrix to remove excess seats and reapply the roster to ensure adherence to the reservation policy. The revised schedule and seat matrix for Round 1 of All India PG Counselling 2025, along with the updated State PG Counselling schedule, will be published soon on the official MCC website.
