At the National Conference on Nursing Excellence and Leadership, Dr. Hem Chandra and Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Sushila Shahi, VSM were conferred with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Brajesh Pathak, in recognition of their exceptional dedication and long-standing service to the healthcare and nursing sectors.
Dr. Hem Chandra was bestowed with the title “Father of Hospital Administration – UP & UK” for his remarkable journey spanning over 30 years in hospital administration, medical education, and public healthcare. His career is a shining example of academic distinction, strategic leadership, and relentless commitment to improving healthcare systems, inspiring countless healthcare professionals across the nation.

Maj. Gen. Sushila Shahi, VSM (Retd.), a stalwart in military nursing, was recognized for her over 40 years of dedicated service in the Indian Armed Forces. A recipient of the National Florence Nightingale Award (2015) presented by the late Hon’ble President Shri Pranab Mukherjee, she has been lauded for her excellence in nursing leadership. Her exceptional service has earned her multiple commendations, including the Chief of Army Staff Commendation (1999) and citations from the General Officers Commanding-in-Chief (Southern and Northern Commands) in 2007 and 2010. She has also played pivotal roles in key professional bodies such as TNAI, INC, the Medical Journal of Armed Forces India, and the Armed Forces Management Advisory Committee.

Their achievements are not only milestones in their personal careers but also a beacon of inspiration for the nursing and healthcare fraternity across India.
