India’s toll of GBS death has reached 21, with two more fatalities reported—one in Pune and another in Nagpur. Maharashtra now accounts for 17 deaths, while Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal have reported one each.

In Pune, a 34-year-old Wagholi resident succumbed at Sassoon General Hospital on February 10 after experiencing progressive limb weakness and respiratory muscle failure. This marks the ninth GBS-related death in Pune since January 5.
Nagpur confirmed its second GBS fatality, an 8-year-old boy who was admitted to GMCH on January 16 and died on February 10.
Union junior minister for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, suggested the possibility of travel restrictions in affected areas if the disease continues to spread.
