The state health department has made it compulsory for all diagnostic for CEA Registration under (Clinical Establishments Act) CEA Act 2010, in a renewed effort to bring regulation and accountability to the sector. Despite repeated notifications from both the central and state governments, a large number of labs are still operating without proper registration, thereby violating the Act.

CEA Registration

Dr. Narrottam Sharma, Additional Director of Hospital Administration, stated, “Strict action will be taken against labs that fail to comply with the registration requirements outlined in the CEA 2010. We have instructed all Chief Medical and Health Officers to ensure that no laboratory is allowed to operate without valid registration.”

The health department has begun identifying labs that are functioning illegally and not meeting the standards set by the CEA. In response, many labs have started the registration process.

Before granting approval, inspection teams from the health department will visit these labs to verify compliance with all CEA norms. This includes checking for adequate equipment and qualified personnel—both of which are mandatory under the Act.
