On March 21, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh launched the PC & PNDT online portal during a one-day workshop focused on strengthening the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act. This initiative aims to digitise and modernise the Act’s enforcement, enhancing transparency and efficiency in monitoring compliance.
According to officials, the new digital platform will replace manual processes with an automated system, improving oversight of registered medical facilities and preventing the misuse of ultrasound technology for gender determination.
At the Delhi Secretariat launch event, Dr. Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to gender equality and protecting the rights of girl children. He commended the departmental staff for their efforts in implementing this technological advancement and emphasised its role in addressing Delhi’s declining sex ratio.
Delhi’s sex ratio fell from 929 females per 1,000 males in 2022 to 922 in 2023, a figure below the national average of 940. “The practice of gender-based sex selection is deeply ingrained in our society. As the nation’s capital, Delhi must take the lead in eliminating such discrimination. I am confident that this initiative will help improve Delhi’s sex ratio and reinforce our commitment to gender equality,” Dr. Singh stated. He also directed officials to take strict action against complaints filed through the portal.
The newly launched website, https://pcpndt.delhi.gov.in, offers key services such as:
- Digital submission of Form F for ultrasound facilities.
- A public complaint registration system to report violations.
- Real-time tracking of enforcement actions and compliance updates.
This digital initiative is expected to play a crucial role in preventing gender-based discrimination and ensuring strict enforcement of the PC&PNDT Act.
