The Health Ministry has introduced national guidelines on medical oxygen management and launched a nationwide capacity-building programme.
As part of this initiative, around 200 master trainers will be trained across the country. These trainers will then educate hospital administrators and medical officers on the proper handling and efficient use of medical oxygen, aiming to minimize wastage and enhance patient care.
The programme will be conducted in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
Emphasizing the importance of lessons learned from India’s Covid-19 response, Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted that effective maintenance and utilization of medical oxygen infrastructure are essential for swiftly meeting demands during emergencies and capacity surges.
