ICICI Bank, in partnership with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has announced the beginning of construction on a major new facility at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam. The project, funded with over ₹550 crore, will feature a modern, state-of-the-art cancer care building.

Spanning approximately 3.9 lakh square feet, the upcoming eight-story structure will be known as the ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer. Equipped with the latest medical technology, it will accommodate over 215 beds and is projected to serve around 3,000 patients annually. Currently, the existing facility handles around 6,200 cancer patients each year.

The new block, expected to be among the largest specialized cancer centers in eastern India, is scheduled for completion by 2027, pending necessary regulatory approvals. The project will be executed by the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of ICICI Bank.

The foundation stone for the building was laid by ICICI Bank Chairman Pradeep Kumar Sinha, with Executive Director Sandeep Batra and TMC Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta in attendance. During the ceremony, Sinha also inaugurated the newly constructed NK Rao Auditorium, which was also supported by ICICI Foundation through the provision of infrastructure and equipment.

Commenting on the initiative, Pradeep Kumar Sinha said, “This project underlines our dedication to improving access to high-quality healthcare. As one of the most significant child and blood cancer care centers in the eastern region, it will benefit patients from Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states, addressing the rising demand for advanced cancer treatment.”
