Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is currently on his first state visit to India, who was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation in the health sector. As part of his visit, five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed and renewed in key areas, including health and traditional medicine.
Among the notable agreements, a MoU on Health Cooperation was signed between India’s Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Indonesia’s Ministry of Health. Both leaders PM of India and President of Indonesia expressed their shared desire to strengthen collaboration in digital health initiatives and increase capacity-building programs to train doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in mutually agreed areas.
In addition, a MoU in the field of Traditional Medicine Quality Assurance was signed between the Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy (under India’s Ministry of AYUSH) and the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority. These agreements are expected to provide a significant boost to the ongoing health sector cooperation between the two countries.
