Meril, a medical device company headquartered in India, has introduced the Mizzo Endo 4000, a soft tissue surgical robotic system designed to enhance surgical precision and accessibility. The launch marks a step forward in India’s growing role in robotic surgery and medical technology.
The Mizzo Endo 4000 has been developed as a multi-specialty platform capable of supporting procedures in general surgery, gynaecology, urology, thoracic, colorectal, bariatric, hepatobiliary, ENT, gastrointestinal, and oncology fields. It incorporates AI-powered 3D anatomical mapping, an open console design, and telesurgery capabilities supported by 5G connectivity. These features aim to enable real-time remote surgical interventions, allowing specialists to extend expertise to underserved regions.
According to Vivek Shah, CEO of Meril, the system has been built to provide minimally invasive options that could lead to quicker recovery and improved patient outcomes. Shah added that Meril envisions the technology contributing to wider adoption of robotic surgery in India and other healthcare systems worldwide.
Key technological features of the Mizzo Endo 4000 include:
- AI-based 3D reconstruction software for real-time mapping and surgical planning
- DICOM viewing technology for pre-visualization and port placement
- 5G-enabled telesurgery and remote training for cross-border collaboration
- A universal visit cart adaptable across surgical modalities for operating room integration
- Robotic arms with audio-visual feedback for complex multi-quadrant procedures
The launch aligns with India’s focus on healthcare innovation and self-reliance. Meril, which operates in over 150 countries with 45 subsidiaries and 12 global academies, has positioned the system as part of its effort to expand access to advanced surgical robotics.
