Johnson & Johnson has launched its TECNIS PureSee intraocular lens (IOL) in India, designed specifically for individuals with presbyopia. This purely refractive IOL provides seamless vision with enhanced contrast and superior low-light performance, similar to a monofocal lens.

Burzin Shahana, Country Manager for Surgical Vision India and South Asia at Johnson & Johnson MedTech, highlighted that while cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure worldwide, with approximately 28 million operations annually, only 10-15% of patients receive advanced optical IOLs tailored to address conditions like astigmatism and presbyopia.

Selecting the right IOL involves multiple considerations for both surgeons and patients. Some lenses may offer clear vision across all distances but might still cause issues like halos and glare. The TECNIS PureSee IOL, with its purely refractive design, helps mitigate these challenges, enhancing overall surgical outcomes.

The key advantages of TECNIS PureSee IOL include:

  • Consistently sharp vision, offering excellent clarity at distance and intermediate ranges, along with functional near vision, reducing dependency on spectacles.
  • A visual experience similar to that of a monofocal IOL, minimizing unwanted visual disturbances like halos, glare, and starbursts.

With its advanced design, the TECNIS PureSee IOL not only enhances patient experience but also provides surgeons with a reliable and user-friendly solution for precise vision correction.
