KKR, a global private equity giant, is in advanced and exclusive talks to acquire a controlling stake in Healthcare Global Enterprises (HCG), India’s leading oncology hospital chain, from CVC Capital Partners.
As per Money Control the deal is valued at approximately ₹7,000 crore ($850 million). CVC Capital, which had acquired its stake in HCG in 2020 for ₹1,049 crore, currently holds 60.36% of the hospital chain.
The discussions underscore the growing demand for specialized healthcare services in India, driven by increasing health awareness and disposable incomes. HCG operates multiple cancer care centers across India and Africa and is a pioneer in oncology-focused healthcare in the region.
KKR’s potential acquisition would be its second significant move in India’s healthcare sector this year, following its investment in Baby Memorial Hospital earlier. The deal is also seen as part of KKR’s strategy to tap into the rising need for advanced healthcare infrastructure in emerging markets.
