Lilavati Foundation announced on 24th of March that it has signed an MoU with the Assam government to establish a super-speciality hospital in Guwahati with an investment of ₹300-350 crore. The 250-300 bed facility will specialize in critical areas such as oncology and cardiology, catering to the Northeast region and neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Bhutan.
The Mumbai-based foundation is also in advanced discussions with multiple states to expand its presence across India by setting up multi-speciality hospitals, further strengthening its commitment to accessible and advanced healthcare. As per media reports the Assam government has allotted 3 acres of land for this project on a long term lease, and the funds for this project will be raised through a mix of debt, equity and donations. The project is expected to be completed in 2 to 3 years. It will provide essential medical services to a region that has long faced challenges accessing specialized healthcare. The foundation, which runs the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai’s Bandra, said it is actively looking at setting up multi-speciality hospitals and medical colleges across India including Goa , Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
