Lilavati Hospital, in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, USA, has successfully completed India’s first-ever Nursing Excellence Training Programme (NETP). Conducted from March 17 to 26, 2025, the programme aimed to elevate nursing education and healthcare standards nationwide.
The training covered essential areas such as critical care, operation theatre nursing, and clinical leadership, benefiting 120 nurses. In addition to enhancing medical expertise, the programme emphasized leadership skills, equipping nurses with the knowledge required to improve patient care.
A Nursing Excellence Programme Recognition Ceremony was held at the Lilavati Hospital Auditorium to celebrate the successful completion of NETP. The event was attended by senior nursing advisors from Mayo Clinic, hospital trustees, and other dignitaries. Participants were awarded certificates, newly designed uniforms, and the Mayo Clinic pin, symbolizing their commitment to upholding high healthcare standards.

Mr. Prashant Mehta, Permanent Trustee of Lilavati Hospital, expressed pride in launching India’s first NETP, stating, “This collaboration with Mayo Clinic is a transformative step in redefining nursing education in India. At Lilavati Hospital, we are dedicated to not just advancing medical care but also empowering healthcare professionals to provide the highest quality of service.”
Beyond clinical excellence, Lilavati Hospital continues its dedication to social welfare through SEWA (Service Equality for the Welfare of All), an initiative established in 1997 by Mrs. Charu Kishor Mehta, Founder and Permanent Trustee for Life. SEWA focuses on expanding healthcare access to underserved communities.
Under its “Food for Work” programme, the Trust adopted 108 villages, securing food supplies—including milk powder, wheat, sugar, and edible oil—from Uronaid Belgium to support communities in need.
The Roshni Eye Bank, a key SEWA initiative, has achieved significant success, ranking third in Mumbai for eye donations and cornea transplants.
Since a governance shift under Late Shri Kishor Mehta, over 1,264 underprivileged patients have received free or subsidised medical treatment worth approximately ₹17 crores. The Trust has also conducted eight major medical camps, benefiting more than 5,000 patients, with over 50 patients receiving free surgeries for conditions related to cardiology, neurology, cancer, spine, nephrology, and orthopaedics.
The Roshni Cataract Camp has facilitated over 605 free cataract surgeries, continuing to provide essential care to those in need.
Looking ahead, on April 22, 2025, Lilavati Hospital will organize an Artificial Limb Camp Programme, where around 120 patients will receive high-quality prosthetic limbs free of charge.
With its unwavering commitment to healthcare education, patient care, and community service, Lilavati Hospital remains dedicated to enhancing medical accessibility across India.
