NIMHANS and AFMC Sign MoU to Advance Research and Training in Mental Health

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to collaborate on research and training in mental health and neurosciences.

The agreement, signed in Bengaluru on 18th of March by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of AFMS, and NIMHANS Director Dr. Prathima Murthy, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two leading institutions.

According to an official statement from NIMHANS, the partnership will facilitate joint academic initiatives, faculty exchange programs, and research projects focused on addressing major healthcare challenges. The collaboration is expected to drive advancements in patient care and scientific innovation.

With this initiative, NIMHANS and AFMS will work together on cutting-edge approaches to mental healthcare, neurosciences, forensic psychiatry, community psychiatry, and primary care psychiatry. Additionally, the partnership will explore funding opportunities from government agencies to support impactful research and training programs.

“This collaboration is a major step toward improving mental health services and building a strong healthcare system for both civilians and armed forces personnel,” the statement added.
