Pune city reported no fresh cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) on Sunday, and no additional fatalities were recorded, keeping the death toll at 11. The last reported deaths occurred on February 19, when a 26-year-old woman from Wagholi and a 37-year-old man from Daund succumbed to complications in Pune hospitals.

Since the outbreak began on January 5, a total of 222 people have been affected. As of Sunday, 30 patients remained in intensive care, with 12 requiring ventilator support. While there were concerns last week regarding the critical condition of some ICU patients, doctors have expressed optimism about their recovery. So far, 171 patients have been discharged.

Most cases have been reported from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas, accounting for 139 patients. Pimpri-Chinchwad has seen 33 cases, while at least 14 patients from nearby districts were brought to Pune for treatment.

On the surveillance front, officials have tested 7,195 water samples from various parts of the city, with 138 showing contamination. Efforts continue with health workers conducting door-to-door screenings, checking for symptoms in residents. More than 46,000 households in PMC limits have been surveyed so far.
