Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of NAMO Hospital in Silvassa, located in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on 8th of March. This newly built 450-bed hospital, constructed at a cost of ₹460 crore, is set to enhance healthcare services in the region, particularly benefiting tribal communities.
Addressing the gathering at the event, PM Modi emphasized the transformation of Silvassa over the years. He recalled how, in the past, people doubted the development potential of the small city. However, he expressed his unwavering belief in the capabilities of the people and stated that since 2014, his government has turned this trust into action, helping Silvassa emerge as a modern city.
“Silvassa is no longer just a small town—it is evolving into a modern, vibrant hub where people from different places are settling. The rapid development in Dadra and Nagar Haveli reflects new opportunities being created in the region,” he said.
PM Modi further described Dadra and Nagar Haveli, along with Daman and Diu, as integral to the country’s heritage and pride. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making the Union Territory a model for holistic development.
During his speech, he also highlighted the impact of various welfare initiatives, such as the One Nation-One Ration Card, Jal Jeevan Mission for clean drinking water, BharatNet for digital connectivity, and financial inclusion programs like PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana. These schemes, he noted, have instilled confidence among the people, leading to significant improvements in their quality of life.
The Prime Minister received a warm reception from the public, who gathered to witness the launch of key developmental projects that aim to boost infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
