A joint committee of the Uttar Pradesh legislature has uncovered serious lapses in the recruitment of doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU).
The investigation, initiated after allegations of a recruitment scam, revealed that out of 108 reserved posts (including backlog vacancies), only 30 were filled. Shockingly, several highly qualified candidates from reputed institutes like Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute (SGPGI) were marked as “Not Found Suitable.”
Committee Seeks Records
The panel has now asked the KGMU administration to submit interview recordings and related documents to verify the claims of malpractice. However, the university has stated that it needs approval from the governor’s office before handing over the requested information, further intensifying doubts about transparency.
Previous Probe by Deputy CM
This latest revelation comes after an earlier inquiry ordered by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, which had already pointed to violations of reservation rules. Reports suggest that the appointments were hurriedly carried out overnight, ignoring the inquiry’s red flags and allegedly favoring candidates from non-reserved categories. KGMU authorities, meanwhile, insist that due procedures were followed.
